About Captain Jim
Capt Jim was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in nearby Maryland fishing for bass and catfish in the Potomac River and bluefish and striped bass (known as Rockfish in MD). As a boy he could not get enough fishing and devoured every book and magazine that he could get his hands on. He moved to Sarasota in 1985 and hes been a fishing guide since 1991. Captain Jim is very well rounded and versatile and caters his charters to the skill level, experience, and expectations of his clients. Fishing is done in a professional, yet relaxed and comfortable environment.
Sarasota offers a myriad of angling opportunities for both spin and fly fishermen and experienced guides are proficient in a wide variety of techniques and must change with the seasons. In the summertime it is all about the Silver King. Capt Jim also does a fair amount of writing. He does a monthly column for Coastal Angler Magazine, has had several articles in regional publications including GAFF, Magazine, Florida Sport Fishing, Woods' Water, and more. His weekly reports and monthly forecasts can be seen online in multiple locations. |
